Sand Art × Opera × The Rocking Horse Winner
The Rocking Horse Winner was an opera based on a short story.
In this production, sand art and opera came together on the same stage as a new creative experiment led by the director.
The sand art scenes were seamlessly woven into the performance, following the passionate acting and singing of the opera performers.
Sand art expresses through movement, while opera speaks through voice, and both filled the same moments in their own ways.
Although the mediums were different, there were many points where the flow naturally came together.
Sand art performances are usually done solo, so working alongside other artists, rehearsing together, and sharing the same stage created a strong sense of being part of one team. That feeling was especially meaningful.
I would love to continue exploring collaborations like this in the future.
